GENERAL PARAMETER COMPARATION ON NEW STYLE ALMINIUM ALLOY,LEAD AND BRASS WATER METER PARTS

Summary:

This article is subject to the application of ALUMINIUM ALLOY water meter body, cover and connectors production and usage. The product is new developped aluminium alloy with mass factors based on alloy, which is specially developped for producing water meter meteal parts (accessories), so we call it unique alloy aluminium for producing water meter parts. Through some technical method, such as material designing, extrusion shape, heat disposal intensification and surface anode oxidation, the new product can be provided with stardard criterion, compared with brass, cast iron, the alloy have doubtless advantage and characteristic, this conclusion is acquired through a series of test on physical performance, anti-rust, and environmental protection, on above aspect, the alloy is superior to traddtional brass and cast iron making water meter parts. Moreover, the alloy can settle out second-time pollution from water drinking tap terminal. Nowadays, the shortage of copper resource leads to copper price booming and more fierce products price competition, there comes some shoddy products in the market afterwards, and a bad industry chain has come into being. Many more water meter producer are trapped under this condition. For above reason, we develop a completely new alloy to resolve this problem. First, from the resource reserve, the copper possess 0.07% of lithosphere, while aluminium is 7.8%. Aluminium is 100 times more than copper; Second, aluminium alloy is all conformed to technical stardard in application. Third, the price is absolutely lower than copper; Fourth, this new material is accord with national industry structure adjustment which focus on energy-saving. Parameter ratio for comparation as below:

1. aluminium alloy biology-chemistry test

Through the test, we got to know the content of all the microelement and component, which is proved that the alloy is conformed to sanitary stardard in every aspects, so it makes none of harm to people's health.

2. comparation in environmental protection.

1, water meter cover, connectors and screw made from aluminium alloy can be able to immune to air and environmental pollution, the alloy is shaped under normal temperature and cold forge without letting exhaust gas and waste water go out. Therefore, its production leaves us a non-pollution clean working condition.

2, the forging temperature for cast iron parts is between 1300degree - 1600 degree, while copper is between 1100 - 1300 degree. Either of the two meterial forging temperature is so high that the exhaust gas and ash volatilized in the air caused environmental and ecological pollution and dirty workshop.

3. intension and ductibility test. We take brass as sample.

test target is DN15 water meter connector, test result as below:

brass-made connector destructive pull: 28.50KN intension length: 4.1mm

alloy-made connector destructive pull: 30.85KN intension length: 5.2mm

4. rust-resistance test result, we take brass as sample.

1, a- the alloy connector show dark color when kept in water for 19months whose surface without being protected disposal.

The parts surface dipped in water have no peels and rust.

b- brass connector surface show gray color after kept dipped in water for 19 months.

2, a- after 24 hours-salt-fog disposal to the alloy parts whose surface had been anode-oxidation disposed.

We test the surface rating 10/10 (without any flaw)

b- brass parts show non-obvious changes.

3, a- after dipped in 5%NACI solution for 36 hours, the 2 parts made from different materials show none of changes.

b- after dipping test, kept in air 72 hours (with surface semi-dipped), we get result as below:

Alloy parts show none of changes, while brass parts appear evident color change, with part light patina. (green color)

4, rust-resistance comparation under the condition of weak-acid:

a- after dipped in weak-acid solution (PH5.5-6.5) for 36 hours we get result as below:

Alloy parts show none of changes. Brass parts how evident color change.

b- after dipping test, kept in air 48 hours (with surface semi-dipped), we get result as below:

Alloy parts show non-obvious changes,while brass parts appear serious color change, with part heavy patina. (green color)

5, rust-resistance comparation under the condition of weak-alkali:

a- after dipped in weak- alkali solution (PH7.5 -8.5) for 36 hours we get result as below:

Alloy parts show non-obvious change.

Brass parts show non-obvious change.

b- after dipping test, kept in air 48 hours (with surface semi-dipped), we get result as below:

Alloy parts show non-obvious changes, while brass parts appear evident color change.

In general.

Testing data indicates that special aluminium alloy has at least been conformed to brass parts stardard and can be applied in practical usage. The index and rating result we get from physical- chemistry and environmental protection test is more scientific. Special aluminium alloy can be more competitive with high sealing advantage which because of no sand-hole come out during different production flow and technology. Meanwhile, it have all- aspect compound advantage that is overwhelmingly superior, especially after anode oxidation disposal, the alloy keeps itself a completely sealing and insulating condition so that minimize the possibility to let microelement going out. Therefore, we can get better rust-resistance and permanent safety. Nowadays, the special aluminium alloy in the water meter field has taken the place of traddtional material day by day, many people has acknowledged while many water meter producers have accepted our products after 2 years of new products devoted to market and 5 years of new material being developped.
